Solar-Powered Golf Cart

With the price of gas and the concerns about keeping the environment clean everyone wants to drive a cleaner-burning, environmentally friendly vehicle. Everything from Hybrids and electric cars to hydrogen-powered prototypes are becoming more popular. But this golf cart has taken going green one step further and become solar-powered.

The Solar Powered Golf Cart is an electric golf cart but it is also equipped with 72 photovoltaic cells built into the roof of the cart. These solar panels provide the cart with several energy saving advantages. First, the Solar Powered Golf Cart is capable of providing 33% more range before recharging than non-solar electric carts. You won't even have to recharge the battery after every round because the 160-watt solar array generates 3 amps per hour the help recharge the 48-volt battery as you use it. That's enough power to go almost 49 miles before having to plug it in again. Second, the solar array prolongs the battery's life by up to 60% longer than most other electric golf carts.

The Solar Powered Golf Cart is not only eco-friendly but has several other attractive features as well. It has a 5 ½ horsepower electric motor that reaches a maximum speed of 24 MPH and can support up to 755 lbs. It can hold two people, secure two golf bags and carry beverages in its four cup holders. The golf cart also includes a speed controller to limit the maximum speed, headlights, turn signals, brake lights, and a horn.
